If you’re in any doubt that the democrat-controlled states won’t utilize Omicron to assert more power over you, you only have to look to Washington D.C. yesterday. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that she would be implementing a vaccination requirement for residents starting Jan. 15. She also reinstated an indoor mask mandate beginning December 21 until the morning of January 31 and added that all employees, contractors and grantees of the District of Columbia government must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must have a booster shot. (No test-out option was offered.)

In addition, the city will require proof of vaccination for restaurants, gyms and other gathering places for patrons 12 and older. The vaccine requirement for gathering places will go into effect on January 15, when patrons will be required to show proof of at least one dose. (From February 15th two doses are required.) The interesting fact about all this is that Omicron is 50% less severe than Delta and the other earlier strains. Viruses mutate and become weaker. This is a fact. Look at these headlines from the UK.
